인생의 의미를 가르차는
교수들을 찿아가
행복이 무엇인지 물어보았습니다.
그들은 다들 고개를 내저으며
내가 장난이나 치고 있다는 듯
웃기만 했습니다.
그러다가 어느 일요일 오후 나는
나무 아래에서
아내와 아이들을 데리고 맥주통과 손풍금을 곁에둔
한 무리의 헝가리인들을 보았습니다.

Happiness
I asked professors who teach the meaning of life to tell me what is happiness
And I went to famous executives who boss the work of thousands of men
They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though I was trying to fool with them.
And then one Sunday afternoon I wandered along the Desplaines river
And I saw a crowd of Hungarians under the trees with their women and children and a keg of beer and an accordion.
